Providing Aid to Officers & Enhancing Public Safety

Since the early 2000’s, The Denver Police Foundation — a nonprofit, charitable organization — has supported the Denver Police Department by providing for important program & equipment needs not possible through the City budget.

Our Services

The Denver Police Foundation (DPF) has identified four strategic initiatives to guide its efforts : Broaden Community Outreach, Promote Officer and Community Safety, Advance Innovative Technology and Training and Increase Awareness of and Recognize Departmental Service.  Since our inception, we have raised and invested over $4,000,000 in Over 100 Denver Police Department Programs.

Officer Support

We are committed to supporting our officers.  It is critical that the Denver Police Department have the most advanced crime-fighting equipment and training. We will support pilot programs and leverage other resources to help the Department remain innovative.

Commitment to Community

These talented young men and women participate in general leadership skill development as well as specialized training in all aspects of law enforcement.  Mentoring and training is provided by select DPD Officers.  Our support provides uniforms, equipment and attendance at an annual regional conference and competition of law enforcement Explorers from throughout the state.

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

Mounted Patrol

The Mounted Patrol unit was established in the late 1800’s to help patrol large areas, Denver Stockyards and other open spaces. However, by 1932, motorcycles and automobiles put the Mounted patrol out of business. With the exception of a couple horses that were used by park police, the others were sold at auction. By 1935, not a single horse was in service. Fifty years later, an “ad-hoc” Mounted Patrol was pulled together by volunteers for a special event, and it was such a huge success that the unit was re-established in 1985. We are proud to continue to support this incredible unit. If you want to support the Mounted Patrol, click the link and donate now!
