Today as we reach the halfway point of #policeweek we want to give a shout-out to Deputy Chief Archer and Division Chief’s Thomas and Saunier for #honoringthefallen72.

We visited three fallen officer markers today and were blessed to have had Fallen Detective DeBruno’s family join us as we honored his service and sacrifice at his memorial marker.

On this day, 16 years ago, Detective Donald “Don

On this day, 16 years ago, Detective Donald “Donny” Young and another officer were shot while working off duty at a private celebration. Detective Young lost his life and the other officer was wounded.

We are grateful to see community members honoring his sacrifice by walking to his memorial sign and paying tribute at his gravesite, on the anniversary of his passing.

Thank you for your service Detective Young, lest we forget.

Today is #nationalsuperheroday!

While we recognize the fictional superheroes; Batman, Superman, Captain America, and Wonder Woman to name a few, we must pause today and recognize the REAL-LIFE SUPERHEROES.

These superheroes may not wear capes, but they do have a super power - they serve, protect and put their lives on the line everyday for our community - they’re the brave and dedicated men and women of the @denverpolice.

To recognize these superheroes, here’s a few things you can do:

- share in the comments below what you think makes them a hero
- take a picture with a police officer and post to social media
- stop by a station and say thank you to those working.

Together we can all be the superheroes, keeping our community safe.

WOMEN'S COMMUNITY ACADEMY The Denver Police Found

WOMEN'S COMMUNITY ACADEMY

The Denver Police Foundation is excited to support the Denver Police Department’s Women’s Community Academy. This community academy is designed to give an insight into how/what/why the Denver Police Department operates. Although this event is open to all Colorado Residents, this particular academy is specifically designed for and will focus on women interested in a career in Law Enforcement.

The WCA will be held at the Training Academy on Saturday, March 13th and Sunday, March 14th from 8:00am - 4:00pm. - BOTH DAYS.

Those interested must complete an application form and pass a basic background check to be considered for acceptance. Both forms are due no later than March 5, 2021. Forms can be found by clicking the 🔗 in our bio! ☝️

Space is extremely limited, (THERE ARE ONLY 10 SPOTS LEFT!) so please apply early. Participants must be at least 21 years of age. Completion of both days is mandatory.

Join us on THURSDAY, February 25th from 4:00-5:00pm via zoom to hear about the incredible impact Rae McCall-Hunn, Carol Hogue and Laura Tinnin-Whitney had on their community. These women are trailblazers for women and people of color in the law enforcement community.
